These very rare bank notes are a form of German Notgeld (Emergency Money), but unlike the vast majority of Notgeld (issued in the 1920-1922 period), these bills were all issued during World War 1. Each and every one is dated between 1914 and 1918!!!

This currency was issued and used by German cities, towns, villages and/or provinces due to a shortage of coins and lower denomination national paper money. Unlike regular Notgeld, it did not foster a collectibles or souvenir trade in the notes, and printage was miniscule in most cases.

Avidly sought by collectors in Germany and throughout Europe, Kriegsgeld is seldom offered in the U.S., let alone at our incredible price of a mere $2.99 a piece.

The scan shows a random assortment of notes in our collection to give you an idea of the variety of designs and themes you will receive, but are not necessarily the exact notes you will receive. The notes come from all over Germany and every one was issued between 1914 and 1918 only!!

Condition ranges from Very Fine to Uncirculated, with most notes being Uncirculated!!
