The first edition of the collected works of Bates (d. 1699), a nonconformist writer and preacher, he was one of the ìdivines called silver-tongued.

Printed during the reign of William III (William of Orange) who died in 1702

Condition: Large volume printed in 1700 - leather boards and spine areworn with slight loss - the boards arenow held to the spine with the cords that form the raised bands on the spine - the leather boards have a blind stamped design to the centre - book plate to inner cover - ffep has tears and chips to edges - previous owners name to back of frontispiece \"George Fisher, Woodhouse, Derby\" - Frontispiece has chips to edges but complete with no tears - title page in red and black print has a name written in ink at the top \"Rob Foley\" and some marks in ink to lower right - text block firm with pages yellowing slightly and minor handling marks - the back end papers are complete but grubby.

Overall good complete edition of this work which with little restoration would be a great addition to any library
