DESCRIPTION:

Body: This lovely tilt top hat is comprised of two completely different kinds of material. The crown is made of 2 sections of a black synthetic horsehair. The top is round and the sides are high in the front tapering lower at the back. The brim is comprised of one section of a deep red straw braid. Although it is wider at the front, the gradual tapering is minimal. A double layer of the straw braid on the outer edge holds the brim in shape. The joint between the crown and brim are covered by the crown and sweatband. A veil with matching deep red flocking is hand stitched around the hat and over the floral embellishment. Two 1\" wide and 7\" long black grosgrain ribbons are stitched to the sides of the sweatband with the ends joined at the base with an elastic band. This is used for holding it in place on the head. Crown height: Approximately 2 1/4\" inches at highest point

Crown band: A 1\" wide black grosgrain ribbon

Brim width: 3 1/4\" at the widest point

Adornments: One 6\" wide spray of cotton and velvet red flowers with green cotton stems and composition stamen is stitched to the front of the hat at the base of the crown. Black veiling with tiny red flocking is hand stitched around the brim

Millinery wired: None

Size: 18\" but this hat is to be worn on the very top of the head and will fit most

Labels: None

Stamped: None

Lined: None

Condition: Very Good. The flowers have some holes in the petals; however, they are under the flocked veiling and this does not take away from the beauty of this hat. I am sure there are a few breaks in the veiling; however, I did not find any. This hat has some wear and soiling commensurate to its age and usage
