Beautiful original bayonet for the Model 1795 US Musket that was widely used in the early days of the Republic. This one is boldly marked C. US which according to Reilly is a widely identified mark to an as yet unknown maker. The blade measures 15 inches with deep flukes and a shallow fuller on the lower half of the wide flat. Socket measures 2 9/16 inches. ID is 7/8 inches. Overall excellent with deep even brown finish and negligible pitting on the socket. There is a forging flaw at the back of the socket that appears to be original construction and not later damage. Very tough bayonet to find! Shipping weight 2 pounds.
