VERY EARLY MAINE PASSAMAQUODDY DECORATED BIRCH BARK COVERED CONTAINER:
$249.95

An early 20th century or late 19th century birch bark covered container possibly from the Passamaquoddy Native American tribe of NorthEastern Maine. It is decorated in the simple abstract manner associated with early examples of decorated birch bark work. It is sewn with spruce root. It is 6\" diameter at the base, 6 1/2\" diameter including the cover and is 6 1/2\" tall. Structurally, the container is good shape but is fragile. The surface clearly and attractively shows significant age. The binding is damaged at sections on the bottom rim. There are some issues. Please look carefully at the photos.
