Very cool heavy Mandolin/Banjo. Found at a local garage sale and put new strings on it. The metal mounting bracket on the back says \"MASCOT PAT. NOV ... 1916. It is LOUD, stays in tune and plays well (I am not a mandolin player - tuned the last four strings like a guitar and blown away)... Unfortunately no case, it looks like the tuning keys have been replaced. One of the nuts holding the drum head down is different then the rest (see pic). The inlay on the neck are cool - offset diamond with the star at the headstock. Please view pics, this is a very old and appreciated instrument and I am trying to describe everything I notice. Please do not hesitate asking questions.Thanks for looking!**ADDED** 5/19I have been playing and enjoying this instrument - with that, I noticed the heel of the neck looks to be two piece. It does not look like a break it just is interesting with the metal bracket mount. Any info or knowledge you can pass would be appreciated. Again, the instrument plays and sounds good. I am not finding any dilemma with the neck, but added a few pics for you to view.Thanks again!
