The Gibson Uke-1 first appeared in 1927 and stayed in production for several years. This particular instrument was owned by a great-grandparent and was purchased before 1930. It is built with Honduras mahogany and includes the \'The Gibson\' script logo. This ukulele is in good condition in all aspects. When last played a few years ago, it sounded magnificent, even with very old strings. I have since removed the strings. There is some slight wear and tear and a noticeable knick on the head. The tuners are ebony and, like everything else, are original. This is a very elegant and classic Uke-1 model.

The original case is very rare and is identified with the number \"565\" on the handle. It is a hard-shell case that is custom-sized for the Uke-1. The latch is torn but could easily be repaired with some stitching. I have seen several comparable vintage Gibson ukuleles online but have yet to find any with a surviving case like this.
