ReTrO aToMiCJEAN AR HANDY MIXERThis is a FABULOUSvintage mixer made by the Jean Ar Company. It is fully operational and in awesomevintage condition. Measures 11\" tall and is made of chrome and glass. To operate this, you simply turn the large black knob (which I believe is bakelite), then you flip the lever and the blender/mixer spins at a high speed until it winds down. It operates perfectly!! Theoriginal label is still on the bottom which reads: Jean-Ar Handy Mixer Handy Mixer Mfg. Corp N.Y.C. Pat Jan. 30, 1930. Other patents pending.The bottom chrome base comes off as well and the top leavingonly the glassholder behind whichmeasures about 6\". The glass has thin, chrome painted bands around it and there is wear to them from age giving it some great character. The top has a screw off pour spout also so you can pour your cocktail or mixture out withoutunscrewing the top. The top screws off easily. There is a gasketinside that shouldbe replaced if you are going to use this. The rubbery gasket is there but is dry. I actually like the original gasket there and would use this as a display but it is fully operational and could be used every day if you chose. I have shown a very small and shallow sliver chip on theinside of the rim of the glass where it screws into the top. It is very minor! The chrome is stillshiny, and althoughthere are some spots of patina from age, I would say it is 98% !Wehave not cleaned or polished this so as to leave it in original condition!Thiswould be a wonderful piece to add to your mid century modern or atomic retro decor.Be sure to take a good looks at the many pics we have provided.
