Nice old birdcage,sturdy, with hinged gate.A magnet will not stick to any areas.I believe that it is gilt over brass.Looks like it could be used now to house your live bird.The underside of this cage is either chrome or nickel plate and has factory welds original to the piece. 11 1/2\" x 10\" X 7 1/4\" Marked O & L Co. New York.(This stands for Otto Lindemann & Co.)This is an extremely rare cage.It needs a good cleanup.There is a story about this cage which was told to me by the lady whom I purchased it from.She stated that this cage belonged to a former governor of Georgia who housed 2 small canaries in it,\"Speedy\" and \"Cracker\".They lived several years and then Speedy had a stroke and died a day later.Cracker was obviously depressed it was said and died the next day after Speedy.I cannot substantiate the validity of the story as she is deceased. Thanks.
