Vintage Brass Schatz Marine Ships Bell Wall Clock 8-Day W/Key, WORKS -- mounted:
$259.00
This is a beautiful vintage August Schatz German ship's clock, circa 1960, mounted on a crested wooden plaque with brass accents
- This is a ship's clock, which rings on every half hour, starting with 12:00, 1 bell, and adding an additional bell every subsequent half hour, for a total of 8 bells in a 4-hour period, after which is starts again with 1 bell.
- The bell has a beautiful chime and works properly
- the clock has been running properly since I wound it, but I do not guarantee its accuracy.
- It comes with a key to wind the clock (the time mainspring winding arbor is at numberal 4 and the strike mainspring winding arbor is at 8)
- I do not know if the key is original to the clock, but it works to wind the clock
- the beautiful glass lid opens on a hinge. The glass itself is beveled around the edge and is not cracked or chipped but could use a polishing
- the brass casing needs a polishing, and there are a few cracks at the bottom (see last picture)
- the clock is mounted on a wooden crest with features brass trim.
- one of the brass trim pieces is missing two tiny screws (see picture)
- clock face is marked "schatz" and "germany" and the wood plaque is also marked "Germany" on the back
- the dial itself is nice and clean with general wear
- I believe this is an 8-day clock
- there is an adjustment on the front under the numeral 12 to adjust fast/slow
- the clock measures approximately 6 1/4" including the case
- the wood plaque measures approximately 13" high and 10 1/2" wide
- clock case is about 3 3/4" deep
