Carl Zeiss Jena Microscope(a) Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss, in Jena, Germany 19302. Model: E Stand Serial Number: 2463693. Carl Zeiss founded his microscope manufacturing company in Jena, Germany in 1847. Around 1866, he recruited a young physicist & mathematician Ernest Abbe. By 1872, the partnership operated under the name “Zeiss,” producing high quality microscopes.In 1886, by perfecting a new glass technology developed by Otto Schott, Zeiss started producing their new high- performance optics. The next major innovator to join the Zeiss firm, August Kohler, whoin the last decade of the 19th century, incorporatedhis optimum illumination system in Zeiss microscopes, a standard still in use in today’s microscopes.4. This is a “Medium Routine Diagnostic Microscope” with a 90° inclining feature allowing for easier lightcapture for the mirror, for easier insertions of the substage & the condenser, and for easier cleaning.5. The condenser is in excellent condition & is easily removed for cleaning. It comes with a diaphragm to adjust the amount of light illuminating the specimen.6. This microscope has a sensitive micrometer fine adjustment, with accuracy of 2 micron scalethrough entire range of travel.7. The attachable mechanical stage has a slide holder, with easily accessible control buttons.8. All of the optics are clean and in excellent condition. The black painted brass body has scratched areas. Mechanically, all functions operate smoothly. Overall, it is clean & in very good condition. The images are your best guide to its condition. Add to your collection of fine instruments.
