This beautiful awesome estate piece is an antique, vintage Wm. S. Haynes Co solid Sterling Silver flute. I called the Haynes Co and verified the serial number. They said this was originally sold on September 13, 1946!! They also said this model is what they call a \"regular\" or \"commercial\" flute. I don\'t know much about instruments, so I don\'t know much more than that. At the top of the body joint, it reads, \"The Haynes Flute MFD By WM. S. Haynes Co. Boston, Mass. Reg Trade Mark,\" as well as the serial number. It has \"Sterling\" stamped into the side of one arm and under the rim of the foot joint. All the keys and springs seem to be moving fine and working properly.
Overall, the flute is in pretty good condition given its age. It has some general surface scratches from use and such, but you could have it overhauled and buffed if you wanted. The pads and corks may need to be replaced. They look to be old ones. The head joint has about 4-5 very tiny dents in it near the top. Those are the only dents that I can see. This comes with the rod and original case. The case is not in the best shape, as you can see from the photos. It has remnants of an old sticker on the top and there is quite a bit of wear, mainly in the corners. The velvet inside is a maroon color and it has the original Haynes tag still stuck inside.
