Vintage Excelsior Americana all tube Guitar Amp - GREAT Condition - lower price:

Extremely Rare Excelsior \"Americana\" (Stereo, High Fidelity) guitar amp, and this one is in tremendous condition, original speakers, original knobs, original footswitch. (Yep, that\'s right! The original footswitch is included!) The corners have a few nicks of them and the grill cloth has some marks and aging, but other than that, she\'s almost \"pristine\"! This one dates back to about 1963 (?) for a production date. Completely gone through by my amp technician two months ago and works perfectly. It appears that someone decided to store this one in a shed for several years, and they sprayed the metal chassis down with a light oil to protect it from rust. It did the trick.....very little of the rust and deterioration that is associated with amps which are in storage for decades. My amp tech cleaned it all up (not fun but he loves this old gear), replaced several resistors and caps, changed out a few tubes and voila....a perfectly working vintage all tube Excelsior Americana amp. Included with the amp is the original schematic, not a copy! (I didn\'t post a picture of the schematic but I can email a pic to you if you are interested.) Speakers are original, handle is original, offset rubber feet on the bottom are original. and most of the tubes are original. Even the vintage tubes all check out at least 80% to 90% good. (By the way.....the rectifier tube in this amp is an original \"Bugle Boy\" which were made in Holland, I believe. These 5UR4 \"Bugle Boy\'s\" commonly sell used for $100 to $200 each.....and this tube checks out at about 90% good.)

She\'s quiet too......I didn\'t elect to have the power cord updated to a 3-prong because I envisioned the next owner might display it primarily, rather than play it heavily. She sounds wonderful, deep lush reverb andtremoloyou can float in. If you want her for studio use or expect to play her a lot, I\'d suggest you upgrade to a 3-prong cord, just for safety concerns. But I left her with the original cord.....if it ain\'t broke, why fix it? Be sure to check out the Nov 2013 issue of Guitar Player magazine....great article in that issue featuring this particular model amp. Excelsior also offered a model with a single front mounted 15\", and two oval speakers on the sides. This one is the exact same amp with different speakers, having two 12\" speakers facing the front, plus a smaller 8\" speaker for highs and additional reverb effects. The reverb in these is really unique, coming primarily through the 8\" speaker and has a very lush, rich \"swimming\" feel to it.......amazing reverb, like nothing else you\'ve ever heard.
This is the model more highly sought after by guitarists and especially studio musicians with the twin 12\" woofers and an 8\" speaker, all pointing to the front. As mentioned, they also made a similar model with a 15\" woofer, 2 - 8\", and 2 - 3X9\" side mounted speakers. more suited for accordion players. These amps were rated at about 50 watts RMS and use 2 each - EL34 power tubes. Theaccordionchannel on these is not as hot as the guitar channel, but both will break up nicely at moderate to higher volume settings. The guitar channel has a wonderful \"growl\" to it if you crank her up.........no kidding, these are amazing amps! Price is pretty firm (at least until I start running low on cash), but go ahead and send me an offer if you\'d like. This is the second one of these I\'ve owned, and this amp is much nicer appearance-wise than the last one I owned. These are fantastic instrument amps and far ahead of their time for sound quality. If you want to have a true \"vintage\" amp in excellent shape, here it is!
