Vintage Gibson EB-3 Bass Walnut 1972:
$900.00

1972 Gibson EB-3 Short Scale Bass withWalnut Finish.

Serial number is 752772, with \"Made in USA\"stamped on the back of the head.

I purchased this beauty in the early 90’s and no repairs havebeen needed. I am not a bass player and used it only for laying down a fewtracks and letting others play it when they visited me.

I had this EB-3 checked out by a well-known local luthierthis summer and no issues were found. He also did a setup and put on newstrings.

It is in very good condition for it’s age. I have looked atothers online and this one seems in better condition than most of the 72 EB3’s

The Gibson case appears to be the original based on Internetresearch and the Luthier that did the last setup.

The EB-3 is a true design classic, made famous by playerssuch as Jack Bruce (Cream), Andy Fraser (Free), Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones),Trevor Bolder (David Bowie), Glen Cornick (Jethro Tull), Phil Lesh (GratefulDead), Chris White (Zombies), David Knights, and Mike Watt

This is an excellent players and collector’s bass.

This 44 year-old classic has some non-functional flaws. Please see the pictures. If you want anyadditional pictures or close-ups let me know. The most noticeable flaws are listed below:

1.Headstock: Finish scrapes on top front/rearedges, bottom rear, and on the right/left sides of the bottom where the guitarwas hung. Normal scratches for age.

2.Body Back: Small finish blemish below neck jointon the right. Normal scratches for age

3.Body Front: Two extra holes were added byanother owner near the end of the neck, finish blemish under the 4thstring just behind the end of the neck. Marks and mounting holes where thebridge cover used to be (don’t have cover). Normal scratches for age.

4.Body Sides: Some dents and scratches. Largest isjust below the lower volume knob.

5.Neck: Normal scratches for age.

6.Case Top: Some edge areas have been repairedwith upholstery tape. The most repairs have been made to the bottom edge underlogo.

7.Case Bottom: Some edge areas have been repairedwith upholstery tape.

8.Case Sides: Some edge areas have been repairedwith upholstery tape. The most repairs have been made to the bottom area under thechrome guard.

9.Case Inside: Great condition, normal wearespecially in areas where the strings/neck/strap-nut touches the case.

10.*** See Pictures and videos on YouTube for full detailsof condition. If you want specific pictures, please ask.

The bridge guard has been removed so the player can dampenthe strings and is not included.

Plays and sounds superb, with a fast neck and a wide rangeof tones, including that famous Gibson \"Growl\".

Controls: 2 Volumes, 2 Tones. Then instead of the standardtoggle switch for selecting pickup combinations, there was a 4 position “varitone”that would roll off some tones and concentrate others. You could be deep andthunderous, also hard hitting with treble clarity, or dial in tons of mid-rangebark to your solid foundation which is what everyone loved about Jack Bruce’sCream sound.
