This is a strange, old, very collectible vintage stringed instrument! It is called a Pianolin.Probably made by the Pianolin Company, which was a division of the Marx (Marxohime Colony) instrument builders
in New Troy, Michigan, probably in the 1930\'s...(according to the internet). All of the strings are there; 25 melody strings, and 20 chord strings, for a total of 45 strings. Each of the 5 chords contains 4 strings: one wound string and three unwound strings.There are two black and white labels; one is a miniature representation of a piano keyboard, apparently to show the melody notes, and another one that shows the 5 chords. They are worn and tattered.The \"bridges\" are painted gold. The tuning pins are oxidized.There is a small pivoting prop of stiff wire in the shape of a triangle, to hold that side up off the table.The instrument has a wonderful patina, and the worn look of a very old used instrument. It measures about 21\" x 8\" x 1.5\"I know nothing about playing this instrument. I have never attempted to play, tune or restore this antique instrument in any way.As a cool instrument, a restoration project, a conversation piece, sitting on a shelf or hanging on the wall, it is a great vintage goodie for any musician or collector.THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE THE BEST DESCRIPTION; look closely, do your own research, and ask any questions before offerding.
