Up for offer is this vintage, small shot & powder measure. On the back it reads "Patented July 1, '84" as in 1884. Upon Googling this date I found this was submitted by Alvin D Moulton from Bridgeport, Conn and he was awarded a patent. On 1 side it reads "2 1/2 Powder Drams" and on the top it reads "1 Oz Shot". I would say this is for a muzzle loading shotgun. I picked this up at an estate several years ago and it is original and old. It has a wooden handle and measures right at 5 inches long. It has some overall honest wear and a small dent on one side. Looks like character to me and would have no impact on it's ability to deliver the proper measurements. The metal part has a little play on the handle but is not a big deal and should be an easy thing to remedy if you so desire. Nice item! Please email me with any questions..... thanks for looking......
