Excellent piece.Signed on the BaseA bit of history on Peter Ompir...Peter Ompir (1904 - 1979) grew up in Pennsylvania and studied fine art at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the National and American Art Academies. He found that the depression-affected populace had no funds for portraits, so he began painting on \"useful\" objects such as tins,trays and tables. His work generated such a demand that they were soon selling at Macy\'s, Neiman Marcus, Sloan\'s of New York, Magnin\'s, and Meier & Frank. Each of his pieces took at least two weeks to create.
