Vintage Swift Maritime Ships Clock & Barometer set - Stainless Steel:
$295.00

Pair of Swift Instruments Ships Clock & Barometer from early 1960\'s in working condition.

This is a matched pair of Swift in working condition, in stainless steel casings mounted to an oval wood board for convenient hanging. We mounted the two instruments on our wall and they looked great. Unfortunately, my husband was kept awake by thesounding ships chimes, so this must go to a home that appreciates the wonderful sound.

I purchased this used from a clock dealer. They are in working order. Note that the chimes can be silenced, but only by removing them from the wall and/or board. Effectively that means you can\'t temporialy silence them. The winding mechanism works fine, and lasts about a week. The chimes wind seems to last longer.

The steel casing has some pitting, and the base has slight hairline cracks, perhaps from stress on a ship, or in mounting? It\'s not clear why.

The glass coverings are in nice shape. The barometer is nearly perfect. The clock face has a marks from the area around where keys were inserted over the decades. I like these imperfections, as it adds character and authenticity. Others may not.

Overall, I\'d say the set is in good condition, not great or excellent. It functions, but has visual flaws. I preferred it when it was mounted the wall rather than the wood plaque. This is very easy to do.

SHIPPING:

I will carefully pack this in bubble wrap and peanuts. Shipping is listed at $28, assuming Chicago to Seattle. Your cost may be less so provide a zip code before you pay and I\'ll be happy to adjust to the correct postage. The box is: 22 x 16 x 14\" and weighs about 13 lbs. Please ignore the shipping rates as they will depend on your zip code. I\'m in Chicago, and you are welcome to see it in person as I think you\'d really enjoy it. To protect the clock mechanism, I will open up the clock back and place some wrap inside the strike area. You\'ll need to remove that when you receive it, using a screwdriver.
