This tin ratchet-type noisemaker was produced by Kirchhof of Newark, NJ, probablyin the early 1930s. Both sides of the noisemaker are marked Patented Nov. 27, 1928- No. 1,693,140; the underside is embossed with the words Kirchhof - Newark, N.J.U.S.A. - Patented No. 1693140. It features a colorful graphic depicting a couple ofswimmers in the water surrounded by Art Deco-type touches. The noisemaker hasa wooden handle and works fine. It is in very good cosmetic condition.
