Victorian brass needle case in the form of a bee, with hinged back, resting on a leaf.
Underside has design registration patent stamp for June 27, 1872, stamped W. Avery & Son The Bee Case Redditch.
Designed as a bee on a leaf called THE BEE CASE
Kite Registration Mark under the wings
Hinges via the antennae
The Bee Case has holders under each wing for a needle packet and a well in the body for loose needles and pins.
Pictures can be found in the book\"Victorian Brass Needlecases\", Estelle Horowitz & Ruth Mann, 1990, plates 1, 44, 65.There are no bends or breaks in the brass and it has a lovely patina.
The loop for one of the antennae is missing The tinylatch at the end of the bee\'s body is missing.
I have had it to a jeweler and he says they could easily be fixed as the antennae loop is a separate piece.
But I leave that to you because it is charming as it sits.Size:The case is 4 1/8\" (10.5 cm)long and 3 7/8\" (10 cm)wide. It stands 3/4\" (2 cm)high. WILL BE BOXED AND INSURED FOR SHIPMENT

Shipping Handling: As you may have heardthe Post Office increased rates again:(Anyone can throw an item in a bag and ship it. Your purchase will be secured in tissue paper,bubble wrapped, sometimes swaddled in dried flowers. If the item is fluid I tape them closed for protection in shipping. I strive to have you package shipped in 1 or 2 days, fromthat point on it is in the hands of the Postal system and their schedule.
