The general principle of the work is the joining of two pieces of fabric by means of an insertion stitch or decorative embroidery. The stitches used in this book are Twisted Insertion stitch, Knotted Insertion Stitch, Mock Hemstitching, andLacea Stitch. The method for working is very simple, the two edges to be joined are tacked at an equal distance apart onto a stiff paper, then the stitches can be easily and quickly formed.
