The Handle Is Sturdy White Metal Which Is Fixed To The Back & The Back Is Locked With A Lovely Hinged Catch..Batteries Can Still Be Obtained From Specialist Dealers For Operational Use. These Would Have Been Provided For Officers To Purchase Only, Due To Expense For Use In The Trenches & For Signalling.
