There are Patton Sabres out there for sale in various conditions and prices. They run from $150 to $1000. dollars depending on condition and weather they are complete or not.. The one we are offering for sale falls into the latter group.
Before we get into the condition of this sabre lets do a little research on the Patton Sabre.
A young second leutenant in 1913 was stationed at Fort Riley Ks.. He was the \"Master of the Sword\". This young second Lt. designed the M1913 Sabre with the thought that this weapon would make a good thrust weapon for the light cavalry which unfotunatly did not work out being that the horses were easy targets for the enemy. The blade which on most sabers were curved, these were straightened out for thrusting which then required a large basket for protection.
The young Lt. latter became one of historys greatest and colorful Generals..General George S. Patton....hence the Patton M1913 sabre....
Now for the condition of this Sabre...It is near flawless, the blade is unmarked from any abuse, the basket is perfect,the handle is great and the scabbard is equally as nice as the rest of this sabre. The ricasso is stamped..1918..L.F. & C. (Landers, Fray, & Clark) the Ordance Bomb...the other side reads..U.S...Eagle Head..No13...This sabre is in extrodinary condition and you all know how hard it is to find one with the scabbard.
