Here you have the venerable WWI US AEF Doughboy\'s 10 Pocket Rifle Ammo Belt. The belt is stamped Russell May 1918. It has brown canvas puckered pockets and brass buckles. The belt shows little wear and is in excellent condition. It has been several years since I have offered a WWI Doughboy\'s Rifle Ammo Belt.

The Springfield \'03 Rifle and American Enfield Rifle were the standard bolt action issue to Doughboy Infantryman and Marine Riflemen. The 10 pockets of the belt were intended to carry 2 clips in each pocket. There are grommets on the belt to accommodate a bayonet, canteen and 1st aid pouch.

The belt is made of three canvas pieces that includes two five-pocket ammo sections and one connecting belt. It is adjustable and should fit up to a 41 to 44-inch waist. There are no pocket dividers. Each pocket has a dot snap fastener. The pockets have the desired puckered finish. All the snaps work. Please be careful when snapping the pockets as the belt is 96 years old.

All grommets are present. The buckles are non-magnetic and appear to be brass. Some of the paint is still retained. There are no stains, wear or fraying. The belt was worn in the field but not abused. Some grommets have light oxidation. There is only trace soiling and signs of age. Russell\'s stamped logo and May 1918 are reasonably legible on the inside of the flap of the first pouch on each side of the belt.
