Like: good selection of sounds with lots of options for tweaking. Compared to amps like the Peavey Vypyr or Line 6 Spider this amp sounds much more natural, responds more like a real amp and even works well with most pedals. Of course the sounds are not equal to the real thing, say the Vibrolux model certainly cannot hold up to the depth and warmth of a real Vibrolux but it is very close. And when you need a high gain sound with some punch your real Vibrolux is not very helpful, while the Flextone will give you a Soldano or Bogner or Mesa Rectifier style sound, again very close to the real thing. With an effects loop, aux outs and a headphone outputs it covers all the bases for me. Don't like: Overall the effects are good and useful but they can sound a bit artificial compared to dedicated foot pedals or higher end digital effect units. Also the the Rotary can create a bit of a hissing sound and it really affects the bass so much that with certain amp sounds, even with the bass all the way down the lower frequencies are still overbearing. The other disadvantage is that there are only four sounds that you can save unless you buy the additional short board footswitch. Lastly, a MP3/Aux input would have been great. Overall I am very happy as I don't use a lot of effects and with this many amp sounds and speaker configurations available I am always able to find a great sound for whatever style I want to play. Just consider that some of the newer modeling amps have more presets that can be saved and they usually have more effects available. I went with the Flextone for the quality of sound which I think is better than anything else in the price range that you can get this amp for at ebay.Read full review
This amp has been around for a while but you can set it for a wide arrange of sounds - thin, disco type comping on a modeled 10" speaker cabinet or thunderous power chords "through" a Bogner head and a Marshall 4x12 cabinet. More reverb effects than I knew existed, chorus, flange, phaser, wah. The only thing lacking is a harmonizer and talk box - which I get in the Line 6 HD500.
The clever guys at Line 6 made an excellent product. I won't go into the features, which are easily obtained from their website, but the amp simulates more amps, cabinets & special effects than you will ever probably use Great sounds are easily available with no effort but there is a huge amount of adjustability available for those willing to put in the time & effort to learn how to do it. Check places like Harmony-Central to find tips from users who've found solutions to common problems.
Overall a great amp, able to deliver on sound ,appearance. I had bought a spider amp but after playing it a week ended up returning it to guitar center.I think the modeled sounds are more realistic. I bought this amp so I would be able to go cover the spectrum of guitar sounds needed to play in a cover band, and it fits the bill.
Amp as advertised. Awesome quality
