This thing sounds GREAT! I was one of the lucky ones to get one that has been stored away for many years, when it warms up it still smells new. I love all the tone controls/crossover on it, really can tune your system to make it sound the way you like it,the highs are really crystal clear, the midrange control can make the voice front stage, and the bass control....oh wow can it punch!!! This receiver just does NOT seem to have any poor sound quality to it at all, no matter what severe adjustments I make to the tone controls, bottom line people, invest your money by buying one of these, you will be happy you did!
I purchased this product due to it being a vintage item of quality, value, and performance......and of course it's looks that far surpass other vintage recievers of this era. Parts are still out there and available for it if you look. There are upgrades for this product and plenty of of repair centers willing to work on it. Original ownwers manuals and service manuals available. No plastic on this baby!...brushed, polished, and anodized aluminum! Vintage Solid State dependability and keeps or increases in value over time depending on customer care and up-keep.
I am owned a 2285B Marantz reciever, it was a cool looking Unit, with its built-in CRT for sound display, and Radio Tuning, with its Square Buttons versus all the rest using IMO prettier Round Function Buttons. Sound heavy, Your face is very beautiful.
