Mine is the European model 990 with the black face, voltage selector, etc. but otherwise, the exact copy of the silver 9090 inside and out. This being my first Sansui receiver, I read many reviews and followed AudioKarma discussions about these jewels. When one came across my path, I bit and so glad I did. It needed some TLC (what 40+ year old doesn't) but after a few days of cleaning, LED upgrades, DeOxit and polishing, it shines! Mine drives a set of Sansui SP-300's and does it drive them! The bass is deep, mid's are clear and the high's are singing. Mine will soon go through a total re-cap and build and that is going to be a somewhat long process but worth it. These are very good looking receivers with a very cool front panel control layout. The knobs are very stylish and the fit and finish on everything is second to none. It's no wonder these are getting expensive now and very collectible. Remember these are from the mid to late 70's. Mine was all original, un-touched. Expect at least some service work if not a total re-build.Read full review

Looks exactly as my 9090, it's not a 9090DB. The DB is the successor of the 9090. The 8080 is a lighter version and the predecessor of the 8080DB. The 9090 is a great receiver. The 9090DB has a different internal design and the Dolby circuit which can cause problems if you read some reviews. My 9090 is recapped and sounds awesome!
