If you watch "Monk" on TV, you know all about the obsessive compulsive former police detective who now works as a consultant to the San Francisco Police Department. His current assistant, Natalie Teeger narrates this story and it's just like watching it unfold on TV! In this story, Monk's former assistant, Sharona, is back in San Francisco working as a nurse in the Emergency Room at the hospital that Natalie's daughter is taken to after she breaks her arm. Sharona and Natalie finally meet. Sharona need Monk's help to prove her husband's innocence in a murder investigation. Since Monk and Sharona have unresolved issues resulting from her leaving him, he is reluctant to help her and she is reluctant to ask for his help. Poor Natalie. She is stuck in the middle. The two ladies have lots in common. They both have 12 year-olds. They both know a lot about Monk's weird habits and they both have developed investigative insights from hanging around with Monk. Along the way, Monk pits the two ladies against each other and sparks fly! This was a very quick and entertaining read. It is most helpful if you've watched the TV series and are familiar with the characters.Read full review
