I was looking for a larger instrument since I'd had only 61 keys digital keyboards so far. So, my first goal was to get a nice piano sound on 76 keys without spending too much. I'm really impressed with the tone quality of the samples this keyboard has. There was a time when Casio keyboards weren't as good as similar Yamaha models, for instance, but that's not the case for this series (WK-6500, WK-7500). I like the piano sounds (like I said before), brass, strings... the rhythms are okay... sometimes I think the fill in/variations are a bit misplaced, but nothing that may ruin your presentation at a family barbecue. It's a full size 76 keys board with piano shape/faces (looks great!) but they're not weighted (in fact very light for my taste)... great for beginners to intermediate piano/keyboard students. The built-in speakers provide good sound quality and you can also plug in a MIC or any other device such as an MP3 player (trhu LINE in port) and enhance your performance with a Karaoke 2 go. There's an USB port which I haven't tested yet but I'm not intending to use it as a MIDI controller... a little too big for such purpose. It also comes with a slot for SD cards where you can store many presets and MIDI files. Finally, my previous keyboard was a Yamaha PSR-E403 (discontinued) which I'm offering at our local eBay associate in Brazil. This one in marginally better - in my opinion - when compared to PSR-E423 (present version) since it offers 1+1/2 octave and more sounds available in the banks. I got my Casio WK-6500 here at eBay for USD 269,00 and I'm happy as a musician can be! I surely recommend it.Read full review
This WK-6500 keyboard has been discontinued by Casio. The direct replacement is WK-7500. My vendor only had the new model CTK-7000 in stock so with my permission they supplied this at the same price. It is the same as the WK-7500 but with 61 notes instead of 76 notes (Shorter keyboard). I am very happy with the substitution, as it is an expanded model with more voices (800) and features with more powerful stereo amplifiers. The keyboard was purchased with donated funds and is now used in the prison chapel of a juvenile correction centre for boys 15 to 20 years of age. They love the sounds it produces in our singing sessions together. I selected it for them because for 5 years we have been using my older Casio CTK-690 with great success. Although these keyboards are very versatile, they are built so that a piano player who knows nothing about keyboard features can switch it on and start playing. They only need to find the volume control, clearly marked. The sound is an authentic piano! Casio have been delivering great value for money for years now and I will gladly purchase a keyboard from them in the future.Read full review
