You're not gonna be re-sawing logs with this one, but for a small shop, it's just the ticket. Saw came fairly well adjusted right out of the box. Not to say you don't need to spend a little time tweaking it, but it was pretty close. Blade is sharp, and for smaller stuff, works very well. If you want to cut a 2x4, get out the chop saw or table saw. But for smaller stuff, even hard burl pen blanks cut with ease. I've put everything from plastic and soft wood to rock hard maple burls and even solid surface countertop material through it, and it does the job. Blade let-off is a nice feature for when the saw sits unused for a while. Prevents the blade imprinting on the tires over time. Just be sure to re-engage it before starting the saw or it will throw off the blade. Base has holes for bolting it down, but so far I haven't found it really needs it. Base is stable enough, and if it's tipping, you're probably forcing the material through too fast. Heck, it even has a dust collector port on the bottom. Hook up a shop vac and keep your shop clean. Good value for the money. Recommended.Read full review

Assembles very quickly and ready to use. Bought it primarily to rough cut 1/4" guitar tops and it functions very well for that purposes. Tried it to rough cut 3/4" alder and it struggled; stalling out frequently. The 1/4 HP is definitely designed for thinner stock. So long as you're using it for stock under 3/4", you should be fine. I still think it's a good value, so long as you don't need for heavy duty use from it.

It was almost more trouble getting this out of the box than setting it up per the instructions. Most of the technical set up was done at the factory so just a simple double check inspection after full installation of all the parts was all that was necessary. It goes together quite easily for the first time belt sander buyer. It helps a lot to have a 10 mm box end wrench handy instead of the old stand by "Crescent" adjustable wrench this is used to mount the 4 bolts in the table. Even the level pointers were right on so no reset was needed there. Good buy and yes I recommend it for the small shop or garage It is NOT intended for commercial use but i suspect it would handle that chore if called upon to do so. (UNIT IS MADE IN CHINA) It's only fault if a fault is to be found.

Looked at several different brands of band saws and finally decided upon the Craftsman. I have not been disappointed. It was easy to set up and use. I took a flexible head-lamp with stretchable straps which fit perfectly over the upper cabinet to provide a work light. I recommend this product for DIY projects.

I'm new to wood working and I'm skilled at it but I was very disappointed with what I bought to do what I wanted to do. Everything works great it's just not powerful enough to cut a band saw box. Do better research for your projects , that's the lesson learned.
