Awesome MIDI controller with decent keys, mappable controls, aftertouch, up to four zones, and does MIDI CCs or NRPN. Cool-looking to boot. The v2 without a keypad is the one to get (v2 of the 25-key has one fader). Endless coders lack the weirdness of some later controllers like the Code series, faders are decent, precision value changes are possible if you move the encoders or faders carefully (not difficult), and the drum pads are the best ever for finger drumming (as far as keyboards go). Control mapping is done on the keyboard, and it will run off of external 9V power (center positive, don't goof up using a guitar pedal supply) or USB, doesn't matter which you use when you want it to serve as a hardware controller, and therefore, it can run off of a battery bank if need be. It is awesome and all, but falls short of the build quality of pricier Akai MPK controllers of its era. Comparable to Novation Impulse controllers, though without Automap or an equivalent and without the bare bones arpeggiator. My gripe with it is the pitch bend, it returns to center rather slowly compared to most other controllers or synth keyboards.Read full review

If you don't know anything about the Axiom Air 61 it is one of the most sophisticated if not THE most sophisticated Keyboard MIDI Controllers on the market. This is the cutting edge of the Future in making Music. Because while many other Keyboards have a Computer inside the Keyboard with pre-set Voices and Sounds Programmed into it, THIS works with you Computer, using Soft Synth Programs in Stand alone or DAW Formats, which means as Programmers develop better Programs with More Cool sounds, you will be able to just update your Software on your Computer and still use this Keyboard MIDI Controller. This means this is a more Versatile way of making music. It is customizable beyond your wildest dreams, it is complex enough to keep you busy for weeks! You don't need a Computer Interface to use this, simply plug it into your USB port on your Computer, and Install your favorite DAW Software, or Stand alone Soft Synth program, and you are ready to go. Unlike many other MIDI Controllers with the Axiom Air you can press a couple Buttons and it will automatically assign most of it's Controls to your DAW Synth or Plug In Effects. The only down side I can see with this is some people are having problems with Drivers for it, but these issues will be worked out. Because this is the Future of Making Music, so once those Driver issues get worked out, more and more programmers will be writing stuff specifically designed to work with this MIDI Controller. Because at this time, there simply is nothing else like it on the market. This is the Best you can get right now.Read full review

I find the price point for used AXIOM 61 models to be good. I use them for live gigs and in the studio to play a variety of VSTi's (virtual instruments). The action of the keyboard is middle of the road lightly weighted and works for the piano/Rhodes/Synth/Hammond sounds that I use. It is not ideal, but is an OK compromise.

Great controller keyboard, with a excellent action. Very easy to use and a real joy to play. If you are looking for an "organ action" controller, either for an organ synthesizer module or an organ modeling software, then I believe you will be happy with this one. I use it with Native Instruments B4, on a Mac G5, and it does a superb job !!!
Great Keys semi weighted keys Easy to set up with a Daw Feels just like a Piano!
