I live in an area that's gets pretty hot in the summer months. Having built and raced cars for years I've learned the value of fresh oil in an engine, since the higher the oil temperature the shorter its life. I have a larger yard and it's normal to have my mower running for many hours so changing oil frequently has become standard practice. I attached this drain valve to the crankcase, added a short piece of oil resistant hose that reached just over the side of the mower frame. With just a quick twist, I can drain the oil without getting it all over the chassis where it collects dust and fragments of weeds, grass clippings etc. The sides of the engine block help to cool the engine oil. This build up further insulates the block from it's ability to cool engine. Cheap insurance

The oil drain location on my riding mower's engine was such so as to make a mess of changing the oil. It would always spill on to the mounting platform & drain down onto the mower deck. With this drain valve, changing oil is a simple matter of attaching a short length of plastic tubing and opening the valve. No more mess, no more cleanup, no more oily rags. I highly recommend this item

I think this is a good idea but it won't work on my mower. The drain plug is to close to the frame and can't screw valve into the motor. I'm hoping it works on my snow blower.

I'm going to buy more of these, they make oil changes so much easier.
