I really got more than I expected out of this Akai MPK Mini. It is compatible with your favorite music producing software, I use FL Studio and it has a number of features that make creating music so much easier and a lot more fun. The instrument packs are limitless and with 8 programmable pads and 2 banks you are able to creat up to 16 different sounds/instruments literally at the touch of a button. You are able to download and upload multiple presets i.e. drum kits, synths, piano. And it has a built in arpeggiator which makes for really amazing instrument manipulations. If you are a musician that loves to create your own beats or enjoys remixing other artists work then you can't go wrong with the Akai MPK Mini Pro. For the price it could very well be one of the most used, best pieces of music equipment that I own! Two thumbs way up!Read full review

It is a great compact tool for writing music, especially for people like myself that are constantly traveling. The keys are smaller than a normal keyboard, but they still feel great and are semi weighted. The only drawback with this particular controller is the sensitivity of the pads. They seem to have a problem with registering 100% of the time and sometimes miss. Also, you really have to slam on them for them to register at all. Luckily all of this can be solved by opening it up and placing a couple layers of electric tape. It's a bit of a chore to have to do this, but it is actually really easy and makes the pads some of the best I've used. The build quality is solid and the knobs feel great. If you're in need of a controller you can throw in a backpack and use anywhere this is the one to go with.Read full review
This controller is the perfect size. I have an Axiom 25 by M-Audio which does the exact same interface but it's so huge that I can't really bring it along with my portable studio. The Akai is small and thin enough to fit in a backpack, runs off USB power, the pads and keys are ultra responsive and are a breeze to map in my DAWs (Reason & Ableton). I don't have a lot of space on my desk, so being compact but power-packed is the key. I would like to see Akai make more stand-alone hardware like the legacy MPC's though. People are taking it back to basics and are a little bored with click and drag music production. Nonetheless, I love this little thing - it's perfect - sorry for the long-winded review.
Ultra portable, convenient, easy to use and set up. Overall performance of the product: no lag and universal with all products.
