Since 1980, when we are home, we've had a small glass of carrot juice every night with supper. Somewhere along the way, Acme Juicerators became Waring Juicers but they are the same. Carrots are a "hard" vegetable. They wear down the teeth on the shredder disc rather fast. When you notice the pulp is no longer fine or the teeth on the disc are wearing down, buy a new shredder disc. Don't procrastinate. Large bits and slivers can throw a juicer off balance. Otherwise, follow the instructions and the juicer should give you years of service. I wear glasses but optometrist thinks my retinas are beautiful. Thank you.

Cosmetically, the disc is superb -- not a scratch. It's also well balanced. After pressing fruits for 15 minutes, I noticed it became harder to push the fruits through. After maybe a total of 30 minutes of juicing, the blade is already dull. I replaced my antique blade with a new one thinking it would bring the juicer back to life, but what I have now is two dull blades. I have to chop my veggies into tiny pieces for this to work. The hardest one is ginger: anything bigger than an inch will cause the juicer to crawl to a standstill.

The Acme juicer shredder disc does an excellent job with my leafy green vegetables and also with root vegetables ... ginger, too.

The piece did not improve the functioning of my juicer much. I don’t know if it was not sharp enough or if there is a different problem with the juicer. I am disappointed.
