Keys are really touch sensitive - unexpected bonus. And it works with old Windows XP!

This is a MIDI controller so it needs MIDI synthesizer software to generate the sounds. I've tried MIDitzer (free download) and Dynamic Synthesizer and Piano 10 from the Windows 10 store. It works with all of these, mostly. The Volume, Pitch, and Modulation controls have no effect. They might with better software than the free stuff I've been using. The Octave and Transpose buttons do work. The Octave button is important since the keyboard is so short. I wanted something small to sit next to a computer playing wav or mp3 files and it fits that requirement perfectly. Volume can be controlled with the software and I've had no need for pitch or modulation control. This is my first experience with anything MIDI and I am not a piano player. (I'll be playing single notes or easily learned sequences). So take that into account when considering this review.Read full review

So far, it works. As the product is simply a midi controller, it has no sound of its own. Its also very bare bones but until I take it on the road in September, I won't really know how it performs under pressure.

LOVE IT!!!!! It's a perfect beginner's midi-keyboard. The modulation and pitch shift wheels work great and it's really responsive for such a cheap little keyboard. If you're sick of using 'musical typing' functions - this is the perfect kind of keyboard for you. Super easy, simple, and portable. Just plug it into the USB port and it works immediately (I use it in GarageBand).

I was looking for a basic controller that was easy to use and inexpensive. This unit is perfect.
