The regular bronze brushes are good for most things, but the tornado design is stainless, and doesn't clog up so much when there is a lot of fouling in the barrel. Being stainless, it also does not corrode. I also find it better when the barrel needs a good "scrubbing." I would suspect this type of brush probably works better at removing plastic residue from plastic shot cups as well in modern shotguns. I have been shooting muzzleloaders since the mid 1970's, and have always sworn by this style brush. I would have no problem using it in a modern rifle as well, but I generally prefer the bronze brush for them. [This goes for rifles, muskets, and shotguns.] *NOTE: I also often simply place a cleaning patch over top of a cleaning brush when swabbing modern shotgun barrels. In modern shotguns, I don't feel the bronze brush is tight enough to thoroughly wipe the barrel. .... Only thing, though, be sure to use a sturdy shotgun cleaning rod if you wrap the bronze brush. The thin "universal cleaning kit" brush is too thin and might bend when you use brush and patch combination.Read full review

Have a well shot 12 gauge barrel with a lot of really stubborn carbon and lead deposits just in front of the chamber. After probably 100 strokes with patches and brass brushes, I still had a stubborn area that was refusing to move until I used the Tornado brush. All came out in a handful of strokes, and no damage to the bore. Good to go!

As always Hoppe's does not let you down. I had a shotgun barrel that was really dirty with a bit of bore cleaner ( Hoppe's as well) and this brush it made short work of 50 plus years of grime and old dirt. You cannot go wrong with this brush

This is a very good product. It will get the lead out of your gun barrel. Could no do without this product, I've used this product for 60 years and will keep doing so as long as I have any need for this.
