I am absolutely blown away with the flexibility of this pedal. It can do things far beyond my capabilities at this point. It can be a little overwhelming because of how flexible the settings and sounds can be. That being said I have found multiple knob and switch settings that make strange and beautiful sounds! It opens up so many paths to experiment with musically. A little bit pricey yes but when you feel the quality in your hands it's worth every penny. Also a side note, add an envelope filter after it and you can layer some very loopy sound textures for hours of fun and exploration. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to scratch their creative itch! Cheers

The Moog Ring Mod is THE ring modulator pedal. This thing can do all the traditional things a ring mod does, and so much more. Slow volume swells reminiscent of the Boss Slow Gear are possible, as well as velvety, smooth tremolo effects and shimmering Vibrato effects. The drive setting adds a very transparent boost to your signal, imparting a luscious analog tone. Really the key here is that you will never have to worry about the dreaded volume-drop problem that so many comparable pedals suffer from. Unity gain is possible literally at the turn of a knob. The LFO is amazing, and does things no other pedal is able to do. Don't forget that you can run anything through this box and get unique, jaw-dropping sounds. If you have reservations about buying the Moog Ring Mod due to the steep price tag, set those fears aside. This is the most versatile "stompbox" style effect I have come in contact with. Only for the seriously patient and exploratory type musician. If you are in to sitting alone in your room and tweaking lots of shiny little knobs that twist and smash your guitar signal into atomized bliss, this is the pedal for you.Read full review
I had seen a video demo of this device and thought I would see if I could incorporate it into my recordings. My first recordings utilized this to process an electronic drum track from a Venom keyboard. One of a pair of stereo signals was recorded dry, the other I ran through the MF-102. The rhythm remained the same, but the side with the MF gradully became harse and metallic sounding as I added the MF processing with the mix knob. This gave the impression of two parallel sounds playing the same rhythm. Another recording I did featured an acoustic guitar(Parker) with a magnetic pickup. I ran the line first into a Utopia wah, then the MF. It gave the guitar a rather textured sound. I switched betwwen dry and effected sound during the recording process. The Wah also added dramatic tone variations to the MF sound as well. This device as a stand alone might become a one trick pony. However, if you use it in different configurations, with differnt devices and instruments, you could obtain various results that are not possible with any other device. It might breathe new life in guitars and keyboards in you collection that you have found to be redundant.I think sax players, percussionists, and vocalists might want to experiment by putting it between their microphones and recorders or mixers. On the cleaner settings, this device could function as a tremolo effect as well . This means it does double duty, but only one duty at a time.Read full review
I bought this item for a friend who does not have a Pay Pal account and is not good with computers. He wanted one to copy the Dr. Who voices mainly the Daleks. After a few adjustments of the knobs he found it worked very well for his usage. We thought the guy who invented this device must have been drunk when he decided on a name for it. We are in Australia and the item arived very quickly. The buyer is making life size Daleks to sit in and the voices will be from a wireless sound system nearby. He is very plaesed with the output of sound. So it does his job real well.
This is the same ring modulator that the BBC use to produce the mechanical voices of the Daleks and Cybermen in Doctor Who. Easy to configure and works with ordinary household speakers as well as professional gear. Lots of fun. EXTERMINATE!
