The Night Wire produces a rich, lush sounding texture. This isn't a normal trem, it is a harmonic tremolo - the LFO signal is mirrored and it's effect split by frequency, so as the bass gets louder the treble is quieter and vice versa. This produces a smoother effect than standard tremolo, giving vibrant movement to clean tones. It also sits well between a distortion or fuzz and a reverb unit. The frequency cutpoint is adjustable. Two toggle switches allow the frequency cutpoint and the rate to be controlled either by their respective knobs or by the pick attack, allowing dynamic control over the effect. Some interesting phaser / wah / vibe type effects can be had here. The pedal appears to be very robust and of high build quality. Well worth saving up for!

This is my second Earthquaker Devices pedal, after the Aqueduct vibe pedal, and this is a bit more conventional and versatile at the same time. It’s my first harmonic tremolo but I love all the optical tremolo pedals I’ve tried. It’s visually stunning with a nice intense purple glitter finish, solid switching and knobs. Hand-numbered on the label on the bottom gives a good indication of the dedication to detail the makers invest in their pedals, and I couldn’t be happier with the Night Wire
