Dated November 14, 1961, the appointment names celebrated lyricist, Alan JayLerner, as “a Member of the Advisory Committee on the Arts (National Cultural Center)” – now known as the John F.KennedyCenter for the Performing Arts.The appointment displays bold signatures of both PresidentKennedyand Secretary of State Dean Rusk, and measures approximately 18.5” x 22.5”.

Interestingly enough,KennedyandLernerwere classmates in prep-school and later at Harvard University. Mr.Lernerwould go on to collaborate with Frederick Loewe on the Tony award-winning musical “Camelot,” known far and wide as JFK’s favorite musical.
