16th President of the United States, ABRAHAM LINCOLN lengthy handwritten note,circa 1850, signed at conclusion in full as, "Abraham Lincoln". Lincoln cites the names of a number of parties in an ongoing legal dispute. Notably, Lincoln handwritten notes are incredibly scarce and those featuring his full signature at the conclusion are of the utmost rarity. Most items on the market constitute signed documents - very few handwritten notes and letters reach the public market.

The Columbus Machine Manufacturing Company was involved in commercial litigation in Illinois, and hired Lincoln to serve as a local defense counsel in these proceedings. Lincoln represented the company in several high-profile cases in the Illinois Supreme Court. The cases largely dealt with debt collections, promissory notes, and property disputes on the judicial circuit.
