On June 1st, 2026, Marilyn Monroe would turn 100 years old. To celebrate this legend’s centenary, a very rare complete black and white portfolio of ten large iconic silver gelatin prints of Marilyn Monroe by Philippe Halsman (1906-1979) will be on sale.

Taken between 1952 and 1959 and published by the Neikrug Press 1981 posthumously, the photos were printed by Stephen Gersh under the supervision of Yvonne Halsman and released in a limited edition of 250. This even rarer, highly desirable portfolio is one of only ten printed AP (Artist Proof) from the artist’s personal collection. Over the years, many sets have been broken up and the prints sold individually; complete sets are now very extraordinary.

Most of the selections date from their 1952LIFEcover story – such as the classic photo of Marilyn lifting weights – except for a 1959 shot from Halsman’s ‘Jump’ series. Two of Halsman’s own photo manipulations are included, with one showing Marilyn’s head on the shoulders of Chinese premier Mao Zedong. This bizarre image was used by the surrealist painter Salvador Dali for a 1971Voguecover. All ten prints were made in 1981.

The prints are eleven by fourteen inches and are archivally fastened and matted with sixteen by twenty-inch Museum Rag Board. Encased in a Callaway portfolio box bound in Dutch linen.Dimensions: 21” h x 16.5” w x 2” d.
