Waterloo1815 (Lieut. Lewis Heise, King’s Germ. Artillery.) fitted with replacementsteel clip and ring suspension; edge bruising and contact marks,therefore nearly very fine or better.

LewisHeise (also seen as Louis and Ludwig) was born on 25 May 1789, in Hannover andcommissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the King’s German Artillery on 15December 1812. He served in the campaign in Northern Germany in 1813-14, andwas present with the 2nd Company at the battle of Waterloo where he was eitherseverely wounded (London Gazette refers) or slightly wounded (Beamish refers)on 18 June. His Waterloo medal was dispatched to him at Hannover as a Captainon half pay. He died in Hannover on 7 September 1850 at the young age of 51.

Soldwith copied roll extracts and other research, including details of two lettersfrom Lieutenant Heise, extracted from the Siborne papers, written in 1835 and1837, which rather unusually for an Artilleryman detail his service atWaterloo, all saved to a USB memory stick.
