Up for sale is without a doubt the rarest mugshots ever available on . What we have here, are the 1800's CDV mugshots of the ORIGINAL Wild West Outlaws. These gentlemen were responsible for the very first Train Robbery in 1866 called The Great Adams Express Robbery. Please note this is a major piece of Boston history. According to records with the Smithsonian Institution, the first railroad robbery occurred in January 1866. An Adams Express train with safes containing over a half million dollars of assorted valuables were emptied of their contents as the train traveled from New York City, to Boston. In addition to the first and several other train robberies, these men were also the most prolific bank robbers of their time. These gentleman were the predecessors, mentors, and teachers to Billy the Kind, Black Bart, Doc Holliday, Butch Cassidy and Jesse James. When it is stated they are the "Original", it is important to note, there was truly no one before them. This group of 12 mugshots is the only of its kind. Out of the 12, there is only one, Fred Wittrock aka Jim Cummings of which there is a known mugshot to exist. That one resides at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth Texas. It is valued at over 10,000 by itself. Here is the link to that exact mugshot currently on exhibition:
It is because of these Wild West Outlaws that the world famous Pinkerton's Detective Agency was formed. The Great Adams Express Train Robbery was their very first big case. So big was it, that Allan Pinkerton, the founder of the Agency wrote a book about it in 1887. The book was titled "Jim Cumming (Fred Wittrock): The Great Adams Express Robbery by A.F Pinkerton. This case is often regarded as being responsible for the forming and success of the world famous Pinkerton Detective Agency. We have an original 1st edition of that book (pic enclosed) that is worth a small fortune. This comes with the mugshots as well. The men you see below are responsible for forming the landscape of the Wild West as we know it. They were mentors and visionaries to the Wild Bunch, Butch Cassidy, the Younger Gang, and Black Bart all of which is documented. NO ONE has anything like this collection in the world. Every single mugshot can be submitted to a Historical Society or Museum for exhibition. Their value is astronomical. Again, these are the only original mugshots of the earliest Wild West Outlaws in existence. You have thee biggest founding names of the Wild West here. Framed, the 12 would be a master centerpiece of any serious collection. They are:
