Exceptional lot of 4, sepia tone Hawaiian photographs from the 1910s! The photos are of a re-enactment of King Kaumualii of Kauai meeting King Kamehameha in 1810 to render allegiance peacefully. This meeting fulfilled the unification of all the Hawaiian islands under Kamehameha. The photos are a sepia tone with the silvery hue when tilted. Only one has writing and no dates. I established the date to be approximately in the 1910s due to the clothing of the spectators-men, women and Boy Scouts! Some of the native Hawaiian men are dressed with the beautiful mahiole feathered helmets only worn by the highest ranking chiefly class! One photo shows the rest of the men in procession with long spears. A single older man is in one photo carrying a drum. There is a lot to look at! Each photo is 4x6" inches.
