Large-format illustrated advertising broadside produced for P. J. Ruetzel, manufacturer of boot, shoe, and gaiter uppers, leather, and findings, operating from No. 343 Seventh Avenue, New York. The composition functions as both advertisement and visual catalog, presenting a wide array of footwear styles-riding boots, hunting legs, button shoes, gaiters, Blucher shoes, and Congress boots-each identified with model numbers and descriptive captions. At center is an engraved view of the Ruetzel factory building, anchoring the display in place and legitimacy during a period when American footwear manufacturing was rapidly industrializing.The illustrations are finely rendered in a restrained monochrome palette, emphasizing form, proportion, and construction details rather than fashion embellishment.
