Up for sale is an incredible antique 1890-1900 E.PROVO • TRADE MARK • SALEM, MASS. Witch City Bottling Works Salem, Massachusetts deep cobalt blue advertising bottle.

The circular emblem showcases a distinct pictorial embossing of a witch flying on a broomstick, a marketing image heavily adopted by Salem businesses during the late 19th-century tourist and trade boom.

“Witch City" mineral water or ginger ale soda bottle was produced by Ephraim Provo in Salem, Massachusetts.

On the back the bottle reads “THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD", inscription was commonly used on late 1890s and early 1900s soda and mineral water bottles which meant the bottle remained the property of the bottler and customers paid a deposit, returning the empty bottle for reuse.

Condition is incredible for the age with minor surface wear and no visible chips or cracks, the mouth is nice and smooth, no cracks or chips either.

This is a RARE find, scarce color to come across with excellent embossing and gloss.

The bottle measures approx. 7-3/4”x2-1/4”.
