For your consideration is a monumental and unquestionably authentic original imperial great wax seal of the Holy Roman Empire, dated 1737 and issued during the reign of Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor and head of the Habsburg Monarchy. Executed in deep red-brown wax, the seal measures an imposing 20 cm in diameter, with a thickness of 2.3 cm and a substantial weight of 496 grams (1.093 lb), placing it among the largest surviving loose imperial seals of the 18th century. Its exceptional scale, mass, and sculptural depth identify it unequivocally as an official product of the imperial chancery, created for a high-level decree, privilege, or judicial instrument issued directly in the Emperors name.

The obverse displays the crowned double-headed imperial eagle, the long-established coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire, surmounted by a single unified imperial crown and bearing the imperial sceptre and globus cruciger, the universal symbols of imperial sovereignty. A large composite escutcheon occupies the eagles breast, originally displaying the dynastic Habsburg arms. The surrounding laurel wreath border, crisply cut and deeply relieved, reflects the mature Baroque engraving style of early 18th-century imperial seal production, while the balanced symmetry and confident modeling of the eagle are characteristic of seals issued during the later Habsburg period under Charles VI.

The verso is flat and unworked, exhibiting knife-trimmed edges, compression marks, and lamination consistent with a poured pendant great seal formed in a metal or stone matrix and later detached from its parent document. Importantly, remnants of the original silk cord used to suspend the great seal from the charter remain intact, providing rare physical confirmation of its original method of attachment and reinforcing its identification as a true great seal rather than a later applied impression. The fractures, peripheral losses, and surface stress visible today are entirely consistent with the age, weight, and long-term gravity strain inherent to large pendant seals, with wear concentrated on the highest relief points and no evidence of modern casting, tooling, or artificial distress.

Detached imperial great seals of this magnitude from the reign of Charles VI are exceptionally rare, as the overwhelming majority survive only when still attached to charters preserved in state, ecclesiastical, or dynastic archives. Even separated, the survival of the seal together with its original silk suspension cord constitutes a museum-quality artifact of late Holy Roman imperial governance, representing the authority of Emperor Charles VI in 1737, only three years before his death and shortly before the extinction of the male Habsburg line.
