Little Mermaid (1989) Key Master setup featuring a production cel of Grimsby on the matching original production background. This is from the scene in which Vanessa shows up at night walking along the beach. This setup was sold in the December 15, 1990 Sotheby's sale in which 283 Key Master setups from the Little Mermaid were sold. This piece can be seen in the sale catalogue as lot 214.
The Little Mermaid was the last Disney film to be entirely hand-drawn with no computer imaging. It was also the first Disney Princess movie in over a generation. After mixed reactions to the scary and artistically avant-garde Sleeping Beauty, Disney refrained from producing a Princess movie for 30 years.
