Antique Cherubs Lamp by MOORE BROS.

A Moore Bros. English ceramic lamp, 1880s, the triform base edged with a gilt Greek key design surmounted by winged cherubs supporting a flared circular top bowl with pierced foot trim applied to the exterior with cactus flowers and leaves.

This antique is in exceptional condition.

Moore Brothers (British, 1870–1905) British, Longton

Bernard Moore and his younger brother Samuel Vincent Moore, manufacturers of china tableware and high quality ornamental pieces at St. Mary's Works, Longton.

By 1881 they were employing 150 people at their pottery works.

In September 1905 the moulds, designs of Moore Bros. were sold and the St. Mary's works were sold to Thomas C. Wild.

Bernard took premises at Wolfe Street, Stoke - he became a 'Consultant Potter' and manufactured pieces with spectacular glazes and Samuel V. Moore appears to have left the potting business.
