Incredible early 19th century sixty-three panel embroidered quilt featuring numerous American and patriotic events and figures.
Motifs including the 1901 Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, NY, Mr. and Mrs. William McKinley and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt flanking a central image of the fair's Temple of Music, where McKinley was fatally shot on 6 September 1901; additional squares depicting various animals, flowers, and children, one with a banner inscribed "Katie" and another reading "Guten Morgen".
Muslin squares embroidered with outlined motifs in red stem stitch. The quilt top backed with plain muslin and all surrounded with wide ruffle border.
Size excluding border is 52 x 64 in.
